If you live in Goodyear, Arizona, your pool isn’t just a luxury — it’s a necessity during those long, hot summers. But over time, even the best-built pools start to show wear. Cracked plaster, outdated tile, and inefficient lighting can make your backyard feel tired. The good news? A professional pool remodel can dramatically improve both your outdoor living experience and your home’s value.
At Blue Sky Landscape & Design, we specialize in pool remodeling and backyard transformations throughout Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Avondale, and surrounding West Valley neighborhoods. Here’s how strategic upgrades — like pool resurfacing, coping replacement, and LED lighting — can boost your return on investment (ROI) and make your backyard the envy of the neighborhood.
Why a Pool Remodel Is a Smart Investment
A well-executed pool remodel can deliver both lifestyle and financial returns. Here’s why Goodyear homeowners are updating their pools:
- Boosted property value — Modern pools can increase resale appeal by up to 7–10%.
- Energy savings — New pumps, lighting, and finishes reduce operating costs.
- Improved safety and comfort — Updated surfaces and lighting make swimming safer and more enjoyable.
- Better aesthetics — A refreshed pool elevates your entire backyard design.
In Arizona’s competitive housing market, an upgraded pool helps your home stand out — especially to buyers looking for move-in-ready outdoor spaces.
Pool Resurfacing: The Foundation of Every Remodel
If your pool surface is cracked, rough, or faded, resurfacing is the most impactful upgrade you can make.
Popular Resurfacing Options:
- PebbleTec or Pebble Sheen – Textured, durable, and available in natural colors that complement desert landscapes.
- Mini Pebble or Quartz finishes – Smooth, elegant, and long-lasting options that add sparkle to your pool water.
- EcoFinish coatings – Chemical-resistant, fade-proof, and ideal for extreme Arizona heat.
ROI Insight:
A resurfaced pool improves appearance, safety, and longevity — offering one of the highest returns on investment of any pool upgrade.
Coping Replacement: The Finishing Touch
Pool coping is the border that frames your pool edge — and it plays a big role in both appearance and function. Over time, coping can chip, crack, or discolor. Replacing it is an easy way to refresh your pool’s look.
Material Options:
- Travertine – Naturally cool, slip-resistant, and timelessly elegant.
- Porcelain – Sleek, low-maintenance, and heat-tolerant.
- Paver or Stone Coping – Customizable, durable, and easy to match with your patio design.
ROI Insight:
New coping improves safety and style, while seamlessly tying your pool into your patio, hardscapes, and outdoor kitchen areas.
LED Lighting: Small Upgrade, Big Impact
Modern LED pool lighting does more than just look good — it’s energy-efficient, long-lasting, and perfect for evening entertaining.
Lighting Benefits:
- Energy savings up to 80% compared to halogen bulbs
- Color-changing options for ambiance and mood lighting
- Extended lifespan (often 10x longer than traditional lights)
- Increased nighttime safety around steps and edges
ROI Insight:
LED lighting enhances usability, curb appeal, and energy efficiency — adding long-term savings and aesthetic value to your remodel.
Bonus Upgrades to Maximize Your ROI
While resurfacing, coping, and lighting are top ROI drivers, consider adding:
- New waterline tile for a fresh, clean look
- Updated pool decking with travertine, porcelain, or pavers
- Built-in water features for movement and sound
- Energy-efficient pool equipment like variable-speed pumps
A combination of these upgrades creates a cohesive, high-end outdoor retreat perfect for Goodyear’s desert lifestyle.
